Where are you based and which areas do you cover?
AK Events are based in Coventry however we work with clients nationwide.
What type of marquee styles do we offer?
We use clear-span aluminium structure marquees, available with a standard leg height of either 2.3 metres or 3 metres.
How long does the build for our marquee take for our event?
The time taken to install the marquee can vary depending on size, location, complexity and internal finish required. Small family occasions are normally completed in one day but some larger events may take 2 or 3 days. Very often they can be installed a day or so ahead of the function date to allow the client preparation time.
Can I have more than one function within the marquee?
Yes. Marquees are usually on site for several days unless a client’s requirements are to have it erected/dismantled within a short timespan.
How do I know what size of marquee I’ll need?
It is difficult to give hard and fast rules as so much depends on the type of function, the layout of the function and the site space available (which can determine the width of unit supplied). We are happy to advise on the size/type of structure required which can be determined very quickly given a few basic details, e.g. guest numbers. We do offer site visits also which will help determine the size of the marquee required for your event.
Does the marquee need to be erected on grass?
No, it can be erected on any flat surface, although grass is by far the easiest. All other surfaces would require pin holes drilled in order to ensure the marquee remains secure; the ground is restored upon clearing the site. Water and weight ballast can also be used to secure marquees if the surface cannot be pinned, e.g. paving or cobbled areas.
How flat does the surface need to be?
The flatter the surface the better, especially if a floor is to be incorporated. However, the marquee can cope with a gentle slope. We have suspended flooring systems available in all our marquee widths which can be utilised if the slope is too great or the ground too uneven for direct lay flooring.
What kind of flooring?
We use interlocking floorboards and can incorporate substructure flooring for added support.
Does your marquee have clear roof panels included, or is there an additional charge?
We do use clear roof panels if you require them at no additional charge. Each marquee is bespoke to each customer and there will be a plethora of options discussed at your consultation.
How does your marquee entrance open?
Our marquees have a zip up function, with an option of installing aluminium doors and ramps.
How does the marquee cope with adverse weather conditions?
Whilst the Clearspan structure can cope with harsher weather conditions than traditional marquees, it is still a temporary structure and can be vulnerable in extreme wind conditions. Snow is also a hindrance to the Clearspan system as the weight can put a strain on the covers in extreme conditions. Under these circumstances, heating levels need to be increased to keep roof sections clear.
On a smaller scale, windy conditions and torrential rain can result in it becoming noisy within the marquee while excessive rain can cause the area surrounding the marquee to become soft and muddy on a grassy site.
Is one heater enough during the winter season?
This all depends on size of marquee. Smaller marquees with could suffice with one whilst larger marques will require more heaters.
Are there any restrictions if we decide to use our own decor supplier?
No there are no restrictions.
Can we use real candles inside the marquee?
Use do use real candles are part of decorations but we do not light them. Therefore we use LED candles for effect and safety.
